WHAT: A two-day workshop with Sarah Edmunds where we will explore the Fine Art of Portraiture.
Dallas Photography Summit brings you "The Fine Art of Portraiture" with Sarah Edmunds. Sarah Edmunds is an internationally renowned photographer, a Fellow of The Societies of Photographers in the UK (the highest recognized qualification) and Master of WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International), and a print competition judge for both. Sarah was one of six internationally renowned photographers chosen to judge International Portrait Photographer of the Year, and Professional Photo magazine’s Professional Photographer of the Year. In this two day workshop, Sarah will take us deep into the Fine Art of Portraiture, to 'see' the light, learn the art of posing, and understand her stylized post production techniques & printing. Saturday, August 10th, 2024 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: The Four Pillars of Portraiture In this morning session, Sarah will teach the foundations of how she creates her fine art and fashion portraits, based on the FOUR PILLARS:
These four pillars encompass lighting, color theory, posing, and composition, drawing upon traditional fine art, fashion, and cinema. Sarah will break them down and demonstrate them in a memorable way, ensuring you can apply them in your own work. 12:00 PM – 01:30 PM: Lunch Break 01:30 PM – 05:00 PM: Fine Art Portrait Shoot & Image Critiques Sarah will start by creating a beautiful fine art-style portrait with a model and styling. She will show her planning process using mood boards, how she carefully selects lighting and color palettes, and how she poses the models to achieve the desired result, with some unexpected detours! In the later part of the afternoon, Sarah will review some of the images submitted for critique, providing her unique perspective as an international print competition judge and multi-award winner. 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Shooting Bays with Models Practice what you learned during the day by photographing models at the shooting bays. Sarah will be assisting and helping you personally. Do NOT miss this opportunity! Sunday, August 11th, 2024 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM: Soft Light Editorial & Dramatic Contrast Shoots During the morning live shoot, Sarah will demonstrate how she creates a soft, high-key fashion look adaptable for female portraits, maternity, or seniors. Then, she'll change things up to create high-impact portraits styled with dramatic lighting, creating mood with contrast, shapes, and drama. 12:00 PM – 01:30 PM: Lunch Break 01:30 PM – 05:00 PM: Edit it, Retouch it, Print it In this final session, Sarah will hold NOTHING back as she shows you her editing process, detailed fine art style retouching, and file preparation for final printing.
