About our MEETINGS

DPPA’s membership meetings routinely take place the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month, except for August and December. Each meeting begins with registration and a social hour, at which members are invited to network with each other and visit our vendor display tables. We are grateful for our vendors’ support, and visiting with them is a great way to learn more about the products and services they offer.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for a time of fellowship. Come connect with other members and enjoy our fabulous desert bar. (We took all the calories out!)

Our meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. Our president welcomes members and visitors. We then have a brief period of announcements and presentation of the results in each category for the monthly photography competition. Click on “Print Competition Rules” on our website for complete information on how to enter and the various categories. 

You are encouraged to enter examples of your work on a regular basis and learn from the critiques our judges have to offer. By doing so, you will see a noticeable improvement in the overall quality of the work you produce, both for your clients and for your own personal satisfaction.

Following a short break, our program is presented by a guest speaker who addresses various aspects of our business, such as: weddings, portraits, family photography, children, seniors, marketing techniques, and editing practices. We trust you will find these programs to be very informative and helpful. Our meetings adjourn around 10:00 p.m.

The only exceptions to the routine monthly meeting schedule on the 2nd Tuesday evening of each month occur when we have a Friday Evening/Saturday/Sunday seminar, known as “The Little Red Schoolhouse”. It is usually held the middle of August, but check the website for exact schedule details.

Due to this seminar, we do not have a general monthly membership meeting at the usual location on the 2nd Tuesday evening for the month of August.

In December of each year, in place of a regular monthly meeting, we have our Annual Awards Banquet. This gives us an opportunity to come together for a “fun” evening out where we enjoy fellowship, dinner, and an inspirational program before we recognize our members who earned:

  • Print Competition Awards
  • Print Competition Medals
  • Photographer of the Year
  • Fellowship Awards
  • Recognition of service to our organization by outgoing and incoming Board members
