From Flowers to Fine Art
Teri Whittaker
Join us to learn basic Floral Fine Art with Teri Whittaker, President of the Texas Professional Photographers Association. See the importance of her personal projects and how they led to being a 6-time medalist in the Professional Photographers of America’s International Photographic Competition.
Teri has primarily used her camera to create people-portraits and photograph weddings; however, while undertaking a daily project that lasted 15 months, she found, along the way, that she developed a love for photographing flowers. During her project, Teri discovered that her photography improved due to the commitment to photographing something daily…..photographing something just for herself.
Teri will discuss the details of her daily image project, how it improved her photography and led her to photographing flowers. She will explain her different lighting strategies, lighting sources, background options, color choices for the subject matter/background/borders and post production work and much more.
Teri has received from the Professional Photographers Association her Certified Professional Photographer designation, and her Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees.
Teri is a wife, a mom, and a mia (her ‘grandmother’ name as she did not want to be called grandma). She and her family have had the opportunity to live in places such as Alaska and Africa, and to travel much of the United States.
These days Teri primarily does business headshot portraiture …….and…..photographs a whole lot of flowers….
