The world is a big place; you can't see it all, but when you're heading somewhere on vacation, how do you prepare for the photographic opportunities that await you? We will spend our time together reviewing the tools and resources available to photographers to plan their visits to places across the globe. Whether you are traveling with family or have the great good fortune to be headed out purely for photography, a little planning on the front end coupled with some recommendations based on my experience can help you capture the story, the moment, the view, and the emotion.

David Downs is a Certified Professional Photographer known locally and across the country for his beautiful landscapes and images of nature. Based out of Plano, David has been capturing images for 12 years and has seen success through the sale of his work as well as his educational programs and workshops. He recently completed a showing of his work and the successful launch of his first book of images called A Voice Expressed. In 2018, David was awarded Artist of the Year by the ArtCentre of Plano. David’s work has been bought and displayed by individuals, corporations, and governments here, locally and abroad. He has a passion for helping others achieve their best work through classes and workshops offered in Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, Wyoming, Montana, Tennessee & Kentucky. Some of his most popular images and workshops are of the night skies from right here in Texas. In 2023, David had 4 of his images make it into the distinguished group of images found in the Professional Photographers Association Imaging Excellence Collection and won a silver medal in the Texas Professional Photographers Association competition. In 2023, he also received recognition for First Place in the Illustrative Landscape/Nature Category by the Dallas Professional Photographers Association.
