November Meeting

Food Glorious Food

with Joe Glyda

Food photography is one of the most challenging forms of photography, requiring a blend of patience, creativity, and a unique skill set that can't be easily taught in a two-day meeting. However, there are many insights that can be described and shown in a classroom setting. In this session, you'll discover how to craft dynamic, mouthwatering food images through lighting techniques. He’ll also share insights on collaborating with clients and the process behind his award-winning images. Mastering the art of working with food stylists and art directors is another essential skill for any food photographer to learn, which will be discussed.

Having just returned from photographing a cookbook in France, Joe recalls a moment when the chef looked at him on the second day and said, "People have no clue what goes into something like this, do they?" This sentiment perfectly captures the depth of effort involved in creating stunning food photography. Joe will walk you through a typical photo food session.

Key Takeaways:

Correct studio lighting and camera settings for food.

How to work with corporate clients and art directors.

How to direct a food stylist.

Working with layouts and incorporating them into Capture One.
