Chris Knight
Dramatic Lighting
Chris Knight was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and hardened by the sweaty, nearly chewable, humidity of Florida. He combines his unconditional love of art history with his conditional love of technology, topping it off with a flare for the cinematic and an uncompromising eye for detail.
His work has appeared in or on Vogue, People, MSNBC, ABC, Ocean Drive, GQ and others.
Chris the author of The Dramatic Portrait and an instructor at Pratt Institute as well as the New York Film Academy.
For the most part, we’re all working with the same set of tools - light, post-production, a camera and lenses, etc. What separates the good from the great? Beyond learning how to use your tools, “the greats" have style and - most importantly - a unique voice. The process of honing these things is different for everyone - it comes from experience and effort. Chris talks though his process and what goes into his creative decision making. Photography is part visual communication and part personal creativity. There is no right or wrong way - only what works for you.
